LITTLE WILLIE

Poem written by Little Willie -- age 12 - incarcerated since age 10

Dad's in jail -- Mom's gone wild,
What can I do? I'm still a child...
Scared to death and full of pain,
Only confusion in my brain.
Don't even know right from wrong.
Crying inside - trying to be strong.
just want to go outside and play
and pretend things didn't turn out this way.
I know I made a bad mistake.
Now my whole life is at stake.
If I could undo it all I would.
If I had another chance I would be so good.
The counselors say do the best you can.
The guards say take it like a man.
But I don't know what to do,
My life just started and now it's through!
